Be Gentle As You Walk With Grief

Walking with Grief -- A Celtic Prayer

Do not hurry as you walk with grief
It does not help the journey

Walk slowly, pausing often

Do not hurry as you walk with grief
Be not disturbed by memories
that come unbidden
Swiftly forgive and let
Unspoken words, unfinished conversations
be resolved in your memories

Be not disturbed
Be gentle with the one who walks with grief

If it is you, be gentle with yourself
Swiftly forgive, walk slowly,
Pause often,
Take time

Be gentle as you walk with grief

  1. This is beautiful.

I am fearful of grief. Though this tears at my heart with ragged claws....it is across the room. Should this grief enter my house...

Dear God. How do you breathe?

  2. some good wisdom in that....grief takes all kinds of forms as well and is different for each of us...so as you grieve def give grace to the others that are finding their way through as well...

  4. Swiftly forgive. Swiftly forgive. I closed my eyes at those words and held my breath before I could finish the poem and breathe.

  6. Sobbing. You know this is where I live right now, where I have lived for many months, endless days. I am trying, I am trying, I am trying to let it take the time it must take, but the sadness is heavy, so heavy. (P.S. I will be cross-posting this very soon.) xoxo

  8. This is a beautiful piece. Those first two lines - do not hurry, it does not help - it is so true. But it still catches my breath at its intensity at times...
